Caught the rear wheel on the deck nets and tried to climb out again by the look of it. Nasty. A Seaknight if my memory is right.

They were used to stop the control surfaces slapping around in the wind.

Roy Chadwick (AVRO designer) was killed in a similar accident in (I think) a Lancastrian, the civvy version of the Lancaster.

If you look at the 'silly landing' vid - thats how the plane I was on landed in Miami year befoe last as we landed into Hurricane Frances....very weird looking out of the window
