  • alternator removal

    im experancing a problem with all my warning lights being on all the time ,after searching i have found out it could be a dodgy alternator, does anyone have a link to/or a detailed description of how to remove it, and how much are they either second hand, recon or new.
    the truck is a j reg, 2.4td, ssr g kn130
    any advice would be much appreciated.

    LN130, not KN. Best place to go if you have one locally is to a true automotive electrician who does alternator rebuilds.

        A big THANKS for the info and links,
        hope i can tackle this without it turning into a major headache,
        looks a bit daunting when reading about it,
        but "nothing ventured nothing gained" as they say,

          alternator problem solved

          Hi, letting you know how it went with the repair....
          printed out the link pages (THANKS MATTF) had a read ,
          then phoned my mechanic mate to see if there was an easier way of removing alternator,
          he called to look at the job, and noticed the wire from the battery to alternator was corroding at alternator end,
          he unbolted it and cut back to good cable then spliced and soldered in a new piece, cleaned all connections, then replaced it with new nut, tested it with a volt meter and BINGO, problem solved for the price of a pint, everything back working as it should,
          lesson learnt is to talk to those that know about these things before attacking a job..
