  • I just drove through 3.5 ft of water and shat myself

As some of you may know ive bought a new surf(see left). I picked it up last night and drove to work today. Im working in an army camp on salisbury plain (hiya woodzie). The roads are 10ft re enforced concrete which have tanks on them most days, apart from one which had a lake across it (flood) with a waning sign. I went for it and it was the scariest moment of off road i have done. The bow wave came to the top of the lights and well up the doors. It didnt stall or anything and all the seals performed well.
I have now decided to get a snorkel

Just been through the ford at Eynsford - the depth board says 2'6", but the water came up to the top of the headlights, so I'm not sure I believe the board. I now have damp carpet in the rear passenger footwells - just going out to mop it out.

Any idea where to get new door seals?

The bottom of my headlights is 37", so I figure if I go really slow I'm safe up to 3ft - just! I've done 30", which was a buttock clencher!

                    Snorkel next methinks.

                      ford at pershore

just ran the ford at pershore the otehr night. board said 2 ft.

headlights sure do look pretty shining through water!!

no sign of water ingress. cool.

had to turn round and do it again just to be sure though. good bow wave too.
