We have decided to change how bid history information is displayed so unscrupulous people cannot target bidders with fake offers using this information. In certain cases, some bidders will no longer be able to see other bidder's User IDs on the listing page. Your User ID will be shown only to you and the seller of the item you're bidding on. Other members will see an anonymous name, such as Bidder 1, Bidder 2 etc.
i understand why... I recently bid on an apple mac computer..I was unsuccessful/outbid but a few days later i was offered a 'second chance to buy' all on an eBay email directing me to an offical looking ebay page...IT WAS NOT. scam artists watching nice items record all who bid and were unsucessful and pose as the original seller offering a 'second chance to buy'... a Complete fraud... thats why eBay now hides the bidders emails etc...
i spotted it straight away and had some fun with them... offering to pay £1000.00 in cash stuffed in an envelope posted over....the emails bounced back and forth..heh heh...

100%.. the so called seller offered a different email address to reply to ..it was a Yahoo address... i contacted the genuine seller via ebay to confirm..
I then kept offering stupid cash amounts via the post...stringing this guy along...
