Dont bother, just go down to your local hardware store and buy a 4mm ballbearing, remove the pipe from the EGR, insert the ballbearing into the pipe. It basically stops the EGR recirculating unburnt gasses back into the engine which creates black smoke. Total cost about 12p

Just read up on the EGR thing. It seems to have no down sides, all of the posts I read were from 2.4 owners, is it safe to blank of the EGR on a 3.0 td

went to look at the EGR thing, as mine is a 3.0 and the other pic in this thread is of a 2.4 I was a bit confused , look at the pic attatched to this post , I was about to start messing about around "A" when I spotted "B" which has already been done. Which one is the EGR Valve , and no I'm not blonde. For those who dont zoom on the pic, A is on the Left and B is on the right

it would be B if you see where the pipe has been disconnected from it should be a round dics shaped thing and that will be the egr

Looking at the pic closely, it looks like it has already been done with a cable tie.
