                  Finished night shifts Saturday morning. Should be back Wednesday, Thursday day and Friday, Saturday nights. But I too am skiving off Thursday, so gonna be a short working week next week. But on the 2nd gotta go for a four day first aid course, cause my smart intelligent company failed to act upon two months notice and let my certificate run out!

                          That's not good particuarly if you have young family. I usually elect to work any days over christmas so save holiday for when it is hot. Working for a local authority we are closed over the main days anyway. I used to work as a musician and chistmas was always a busy time so never had any time off but that just became a way of life and enjoyed the type of work.

                          Still, enjoy the time you have off

                            We aint got the kids this Christmas anyway. Mine is with his mum, and Vicki's is with her dad so we have a nice quiet chilling kind of Christmas to look forward to. New Years Eve will altogether more noisy as they are with us for that!

                            At the mo I get 32.5 days a year leave, but when I finish where I am at the moment I guess I'll have to get used to the 23-25 days typical in the commercial world. Cest la vie!

                              The only upside is that I'm earning shed loads of dosh.

                              Thursdays are my overtime days and Fridays are my days off. I never work my overtime days until Christmas, as we have to work three 6 day weeks to qualify for the £900 bonus + 2 lieu days.

                              So I'm getting three days of about 10hrs at time and a half. Boxing day I'm on double time all day plus 2 lieu days, New Years day I'm on double time all day plus 2 lieu days, Sundays are double time all day.

                              So for this period Im on,

                              Boxing day = double time + 2 lieu days
                              Tues = normal time
                              Weds = normal time
                              Thurs = time and half
                              Fri = off
                              Sat = Normal
                              Sun = double time
                              New Years day = double + 2 lieu days

                              6 days in lieu in total, 2 days a week for 2 weeks at double time and two days in two weeks time and half plus the bonus on top. Just had my yearly attendence bonus and 6 cashed in lieu days too.
