KZN 185 which oil

Gunna do a filters and fluids service myself over christmas as we are going on an expedition in the Surf, 4 of us and 2 dogz over the new year

OK, northumberland and Holy island..kinda an expedition

My question then is.........

What oil should I put in and how much with a filter change.

I have recently done mine and I used 7 litres (inc filter) of 15W40 semi synthetic. Book says 7.5 litres but that took the level well over the dipstick full mark so drew 0.5L out

What made you decide on the oil type 15W40 semi synthetic? sounds ok to me just curious as to your decision on type.

i use magnatec gtd 10w/40

anything slippery will probably do, but i guessed that it wouldn't be too bad if i didn't change it so often if i used something quality rather than tesco value oil that would need changieng every 4 miles.

it's probably much of a muchness, but i reckon a tenner of the price of magnatec goes just on the nice bottle!

The Genuine Toyota factory manual for the 1KZT & 1KZTE engines recommend either the 15w40 or the 10w30 for UK climates.
