  • Handbrake warning light?

My handbrake warning light keeps coming on everytime the truck is on a gradient or sometime's if I'm heavy with my right foot. Is this a likely indication that the rear brakes need replacing? I've never been impressed with the brakes on the Surf anyway so it's hard to tell

Hows your Brake Fluid level Doug ? That too would cause it to come on.

Yes I would agree with that. More than likely the fluid needs topping up

And if it's not the fluid, it's probably the sensor.

Thanks guys, I'll have a look at the fluid levels. She's suffering the cold weather at the moment - it's killed one of the batteries leading to 'will it, won't it?' starting....

I had exactly the same prob a while back, it was simply a case that the front pads needed changing and the fluid was a bit low because of that fact.
light always came on when accelerating or on a gradient ( going up )

Once one`s gone the other won`t be far behind.Best to replace them both now and give your self peace of mind.

One is pretty new from Halfords with the long guarantee so should be alright, the other has been on since I bought it though so is probably due replacement by now....

disconnect the bad battey so it doesn't drain the other and you should be fine.
