I have this 92 Surf 2.4 TDI Aut. ANyway, sometimes, even when she's warmed up, I am finding, that crusing along, around 55 -60MPH ish after about 2 or 3 miles it's although, she is holding back a little. It's not running smoth and even. not so much missing firing, but it's almost like it's starting stuggle a bit. I change down and boot it. This appears to have some effect on it running Ok again. Odd, any ideas. I have had all the warterways, done, new thermo, flushed right out, new water, antifreeze, and temp wise it's sits spot on.

Also the fluid should be the colour of red wine and not brown.

Checking
Ok, I have checed the level, with engine running and it appears to be just about where it should be, maybe about half a litre down at worst. Colour is a bit dirty, but not excessive. Looks a bit dark on the stick. but not on the finger. Other question, regards coolant levels. The little plastic filler tank. at the front for this. should that be full up, or near full up anyway. And when it cools down, does it suck the contents back into the water system. If you know what I mean.

Yes, but it only needs to be half full or half empty, which ever is easiest for you.

The only reason I ask this was it was supposed to have been done before I got the thing ( $$$$$$ Bulgaria for you) Can't trust them an inch!!!! The snow ice is on it's way, and have check the water and it looks like My urine has more antifreez than they have put in. SO, I have put a neat load of antifreez into the expansion bottle, in the hope it will be dawn into the system over the next few miles...

WHat temps we get
Temp can be -25c out here, not always, but it can get like that. Hay went out for little drive today, and I recon this place is ideal Surf country. You serious off roaders, need to get your asses out to this place as there are some great places to off road out here...

Restriction
WHat are they, just go where you want, it's great.
First offroad treck today, Went off road in the hills, near to where they do the logging, Mud, deep rutts, water about 18inch deep, where the moster trucks keep driving. It must have a reasonable depth, as the little metal bit by the side of my towhitch where the electric connection fits to, got bent, and had larg clump of mud attached to it. I ,loved it. heheheheh
