  • Surfs Up!

Hi all, Well I just picked upthe surf with its new head fitted.
Also had fitted the 4 new ES 9000 shocks, new rear springs and new steering damper.
The only problem is that now it seems really gutless, almost as if the turbo is not working.
It will not rev much past 3000 rpm and up hill it will not accelarate, and there is a ditinct lack of black smoke from exhaust when under load.
The turbo light comes on and there is the usual whistle at just over 2000 rpm but no ooomph.

    Any ideas???
    Rob

that'll be the vacuum pipe off the little black doohicky in just below the big pipe from the air box, then. passengers side, about 3 inches down from the rocker cover gasket... you know the one
      it's in me shed, mate.

The small vacuum pipes may have been connected in the wrong order.
Check the short J shaped pipe under the throttle body, it has a small on-way valve in it. If this has come off, you'l have no turbo boost.

        S'OK, I've found a pic........

Yeah I took it back staight away and he's booked it in for monday am to check it out, but if is as simple as a vac pipe I'll have a look in the morning.

I hate it when you you get all excited about getting your surf back and it goes worse than it did with the blown head!

Thanks for the pic bushwacker, mines not an EFI, will this make a diference??

It won't come on unless the engine is under load, so that's right..

I can get mine to come on if I rev it past 2800rpm in neutral!

It does "feel" like there's no turbo boost, the accelaration is just "flat", foot to the floor but no kick and no black smoke like normal.
