  • Towing a Surf?

My poor dead 2.4 is in need of a lift from Manchester (Salford really) to LA Supertrux in Daventry, Northants in the next few weeks to start work on a V8 transplant.

Can anyone offer advice on the cheapest way to get it down there?

Am I best off paying someone with a tow-truck / flatbed however much they want or is hiring a trailer and a tow vehicle a reasonable alternative?

It's been stood for a fair few months so conning Green Flag into it is out of the question!

Id pay a transport co to do it unless you have a friend with a big enough car/van to tow it with a hired trailer. It might be more expensive though by time you have paid for fuel both ways etc etc.
some transport co's are empty one way anyway so might do you a good deal.

Cheers guys, I'll contact a few off that list and see what the damage is.

Can't estimate how much fuel I'll use on the return journey though with that lovely new lump under the bonnet!
