Well she passed the MOT today first time (it is a 3rd gen afterall), but when the inspector did the brakes he told me he couldn't rolling-road it as it was ana import, but took it for a drive with a decelerometer on the seat. Ive never heard of this before and is it legit?

Not because its an import but because it can damage 4wd system . Perfectly legal to use the gyro thingy .

Don't think it's due to it being an import, more to do with it being a 4x4.
When I last had mine tested I got the same story I don't think they tested the brakes at all but still passed it.
Laugh!!! I nearly bought my own beer.

My MOT place uses the rolling road, but he always tells me to make sure it's in 2wd

Its all to do with the tester not knowing WTF he is talking about.

Make sure its in 2wd, and put it on the test rollers. Nothing else to it.
