just had look at my cracked head and it had cracked around the 3rd combustion chamber, quite large!!> IT looked a little bit pitted and rusty on the bore, is this any thing to be concerned about , the mechanic didnt seem too bothered.

They'll probably clean it up before they reassemble.

The rust will be caused by the head leaking - it'll only be surface rust.

Provided the pitting of the bore is not serious and above the sections of the bore where the rings are then it should be ok.
