I posted late yesterday evening and explained that I had shredded an alternator belt and wondered where I might obtain a replacement alternator , if necessary. 62 people have read this post and NOBODY but NOBODY has any suggestions. Is this really the case or are the suscribers to this forum JOCKOPHOBIC?

Course not. It's not your fault your Scottish. Think Milner's do the
alternator, Toyota obviously, or see if you have a local auto electrician
who specialises in starter motor/dynamo/alternator repairs.

That's better. Thank you gentlemen. Couldn't find anything on Roughtrax last night and can't access the site today, for some reason. But at least I got a response this time.

Good evening Jock, how ya doin'?

The alternator has two drive belts, how can losing one of them bugger up the alternator?

Can't see how, the two belts run on the same pulleys and are the same length.

After I shed the belt (I wasn't aware at the time) the batteries went flat and I was stuck in a service station on the M23. The recovery guy tested the alternator and said it was only putting out 12 v and was probably on it's way out. I hope that when I replace the drive belts, it might improve. Thanks again for the info, folks.
                      All the best

                          Cheers Tony.
I've ordered a new set of belts for tomorrow and should know where I stand after that.Hoping that the low alternator output is due to the remaining belt slipping. I'll let you know the outcome.
                          Many thanks
