On a 3rd Gen...is there any issues with speed when using AWD? Is it recommended to keep the speed down while using AWD?...

Is it safe to use AWD for extended periods?

dunno why you'd want to, but as long as it's not in diff locked mode, then anything up to the UK national speed limit will be fine.
