Erm, that was my input to their thread after I made the changes, most of the info I found was bits here and there rather than one thread, it seems a fairly un reported mod but it really does work.
I honestly think the car runs better not just quicker, give it a go....you can always adjust back to youre start point if youre not convinced. Maybe mine was always running down on power & now its just right........who knows ?
I had a pump rebuilt on a Transit engined series 111, that was really slow when I got it back, and that was a similar adjustment........perhaps my Surf had some pump work in the past.

You're damn right i'm gonna do it, it would be rude not to!

Perhaps Toyota set the pump for economy rather than oomph.

Im a firm believer that sometimes more is less !!!!!!!!! Thrashing an underpowered bus, will be worse on fuel in the long run IMO
Good luck Vince, let us know how it goes

Mine must have had the same pump work as your's then Javers, i'm flooring it and it crawls, seems to take ages to build up enough revs to bring the turbo in, all roar and no go, i'm giveing this mod a go, i'm surprised it has'nt been talked about more before.

My Surf is certainly no slouch… it regularly embarrasses other cars and that is without revving it hard or using the ECT button… but then again it is the more powerful V6 Petrol version.

Had a funny situation this morning on the way to work, along a 2 mile section of the A41…. pulled up at the first of 4 sets of traffic lights and saw a little Nissan Micra beside me. I set off as per normal and left him way back (as can be expected) and didn’t think anything of it. He stays in the outside lane and pulls up besides me again at the next set… so I do exactly the same again! And yet again for a third time. The next section is uphill so he must think he is in with a chance… but guess what… NO!

By the time I reached the duel carriage-way he had sheepishly disappeared out of sight. Maybe I should have used the ECT button and really have embarrassed him…but it is 40 mph along that road with plenty of cameras.

I don’t know why he even had the cheek to even try in his little motor and I’m sure half the following drivers where laughing at him….. poor guy couldn’t even beat a 2 ton 4x4.

                  Made me laugh anyway.
Mine WAS a 150 bhp V6 and ran on PETROL

Yep, but you dont have to take the pump off to do it
