        The hippo snaps back!!!

"Nice to see you have managed to change the title, but a real shame that you haven't even got the manners to issue an apology for your appaling reporting. It's about time you showed you are not biased, or are you part of a hidden agenda to deny 4x4 drivers of their rights to choose what vehicle they wish to drive by persecuting them. As you may have guessed I am FAR from happy with your reporting - PROVE your neutrality by reporting more on all the 4x4s that run green fuels - check the 4x4 car forums and you WILL see there is a large band doing just that. YES I expect a reply - if you have an shred of decency you owe me that."

          Just gave them my ££££££

          "Dear Sir/Madam,

I feel as a licence payer who has to pay quite a lot of money into the BBC's coffers it is only right that you take my complaint seriously.

I am sick and tired of reading/hearing/watching news from your organisation about the so called eco destroyer 4X4.

Can you advise me of the BBC's policy regarding impartiality? There seems to be a strong anti 4X4 agenda at the BBC which needs to be addressed. There are a lot more polluting vehicles on the roads today than just 4x4's. You only have to look at all the old cars the so called "eco warriors" use, especially these old buses and lorry’s they live in, which are 95% of the time un-taxed, un-insured and un-MOT'd. However these people along with a growing number of organisations, councils, government and the BBC seem to be waging war on 4x4 owners when quite clearly these same people haven't even got their own house in order. Can you tell me the make, model and CO2 emissions for the BBC's Director General's own company car?

I have just taken my Land Rover Defender which is 19 years old for its annual MOT this very morning. The allowed Opacity Mean Value for this vehicle is 2.5. My vehicle sailed thru with a value of 0.86. So not EVERY 4x4 is a polluting vehicle. This vehicle is used for Ex Military vehicle events in the summer where I show it as part of a living history display as part of a club that promotes our military history. It has done less than 1,000miles since it's last MOT, but I still have to pay the massive road tax levy, insure and MOT this vehicle even though it is parked up for 90% of the year.

Stop your anti 4x4 agenda, stop your pro government line and stop your bias, otherwise I and many others like me will stop paying the licence fee. I object to my money being used in this sloppy biased manner."

The National Alliance Against Tolls said: "Band G cars will pay more from 2009, but that band only relates to cars registered after 23 March 2006, so it could have a perverse effect by encouraging the use of older vehicles."

given the skewed reporting on congestion charging, it makes you wonder how impartial they are on 'larger' issues, like blair, iraq, global warming etc...
              it's in me shed, mate.

Why not sign up http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/actionnetwork/ and make your points on the BBC's 'Action Network' ?

It may not change Red Ken's blinkered attitude but if we can reduce the static coming from the Beeb we'll have done some good !

And we might be able to have some fun too ........

Life is too important to take seriously !

Funny this topic should be running, I have just added my comments to the "Have your say" board on the BBC's web site.

I own 3 (yes three) 4x4's and there is no way I will give them up!
One is a very nice 4 ltr petrol guzzler, which burns fuel like there is no tomorrow!
One is a dirty diesel, but its only a 2.4 and just as thirsty.

Go on, call me all you like I don't care..

The 4 ltr runs on LPG and the diesel runs on cooking oil (you cant get much greener than that).

Shame the goverment doesn't give me any tax reductions for being so green.

I have a van for my business which is 7.5 meters long and 2.4 wide, which costs me over £100 a day in diesel and I have to thunder around London in it, but I don't see any of you wanting to take that off the road.. You only want 4x4's off the road cos your all jealous!

I have a feeling they wont post it but there you go..!

                          What! £100 a day?

Then surely if they take you off the road a large proportion the problem will be solved and the rest of us can carry on driving 4x4’s in peace.

Seriously how many miles do you drive a week?
