  • New Tyres!

Hi all, Just had new tyres fitted, Cooper Discoverer STT- 31x10.5x15

They look great, ( will post pics when I find out how to!!??)

One thing I have noticed is that even though I asked the guy to track the front wheels, it seems to drive worse now than before.
It pulls to the left, and wanders all over the road.

I'm fairly convinced that the tyre guy had little idea how to use the tracking gizmo, as he only attatched it to the front wheels, and only adjusted one side.

I will go somewhere else to get it re-tracked tomorrow.

Basically my question is, will I need to have it done again after I change the rear springs and all the shocks??

Went to Kwik Fit near where I live a while ago to ask about tracking. The guy there said tracking some 4X4s was a bit different to a car, said tracking was done via the steering box. Lost me off about there, anyway he said that they couldn't do it and said I'd have to go to a 4X4 specialist. So still haven't had the tracking checked

As long as you don't touch the torsion bars it'll be OK.

Surfs still have track rod ends, soooooooooooooooo that's where the adjustment is made.
Life on the edge is short, but the view is great !

If you don't mind me asking, what did they cost and did you fit them to standard rims??

How different do they look to the 265/70x15's ??

I paid £88.00 a corner fitted and balanced.

They are about 1 1/2" taller than the metric equivelant, and yes they fit right on the standard rims. The tread pattern is quite aggressive, 20%/80%
( on/off road) They look a lot different, make the surf look stockier/shorter.

Thanks tony for the info, I guess I'll have to have the tracking done again tomorrow to undo what the tyre guy did.

Oh and by the way I think my clutch is also on the way out, so can you let me know what I should be paying for supply and fit, and whats your schedule? He he .
