i sent Toyota an email on 29/9/06 asking if the relay rod recall effected my surf, i had to take this route as my local dealer assured me the chassis number i was giving him was for a hiace van so i shouldn't worry as their relay rods never break!!!!

got an email back today saying this:

"Following the query regarding your Toyota Hilux Surf recall I can now confirm that your vehicle will be one of those that require the recall.

However, due to the implications of the vehicle being an import this will not be authorised for approximatley 2 months in which time we will contact you to get the vehicle booked in at your nearest Toyota Centre.

Hope this helps and we will keep you informed."

    not exactly fantastic service eh

To be fair, it took them about 2-3 months to sort mine out. Toyota did it, cleaned it, all free of charge. Not bad really when you think most surfs are over 10 years old.
    i like it muddy!

Whatever you do, don't take it to Lookers. They are clueless.
