  • Breathing prob

This is a none hilux question, but someone may be able to help me. My bro has a 2ltr derv non-turbo almera. It has had a bit of a hick at 2500 rpm for a while now. This has got worse, it is intermitting fault so i have struck out mechanical fault, also i think it is struggling to breath, as if not enough air is getting there. I took air intake off to the manifold, but still there? Any ideas?

Sounds like a fuel delivery/timing problem. It could also be an air leak in the fuel lines or at the pump.

this may sound a little strange - but give the ignition key a good scrub with a toothbrush. the imobolizer chip is inside the key and if the contact is grimey it can cause intermitent misfire.
        Everyone thinks I'm paranoid!!
