  • rear work light / reverse light

    Hi folks'
anybody got any ideas on where / how to fit a rear work light / bright reverse light to the rear of me truck?
I've toyed with the idea all summer and now it's getting darker of a night, it's becomming more of a need.
wanting to fit some kind of small halogen lamp / lamps discreetly. thought about inset in bumper - but could really do with being higher up.
If i could get some kind of module / pod to mount on top of rear spoiler and get it colour coded that would be ideal.
I have seen some ultra thin LED units at halfraulds and although an ideal size (10mm x 20mm x 110mm) i don't think they'll be very bright to light up dark areas when reversing.
    what have you got??
    Everyone thinks I'm paranoid!!

I've fitted/soldered some halogen bulbs into my original reverse lights.

i got some small driving lamps and put them on the trim inside the tailgate...

(either side of the interior light)

not sure if the 2nd gen is the same (or if yours is even a 2nd gen?)

they were great, shine out though the window, or wind window down.
nee nar nee nar, i'm a fire engine!

good idea - we may be onto something here!!
now to find a way of stopping my two german shepards eating them when LJBED (long journey boredom eating disorder) sets in.

Elegant solution Slug Man. The 2nd gen has the plastic pod on the ceiling. Maybe they could be grafted into that...

Hows about 1 or two small rear facing lights hanging from the rear pod INSIDE the truck? Ok you might need to drop the rear window slightly when reversing but should be OK for worklights.

Or better still a whole bank of rear facing spots to scunner tailgaters

                              My solution

As yet our dogs have failed to chew them, but they normally lie down and go to sleep when on long journeys (it's either that or they don't like my singing and lie down so they can put their paws over their ears).
The wiring runs up the inside of the trim, so they can't get at that, and it is connected to a switch on the dash which can either be off (for MOT) on when reverse is selected, or on as work lights.
                              Gone from 4x4 to 1x2
