cd socket wil it take mp3player

the ancient and origional stereo in my 89 surf has a socket marked CD. Does anyone know if I can plug my mp3 player in. I dont have a lead with the correct size jack plugs on it and though I'd better ask B4 going to buy one and exposing my fuddery. ( those who know the "not the nine o'clock news" hi fi shop sketch will know what I mean!!! Gramaphone....woofers tweeters etc)

Yes it should do. My old graphic eq had one and I plugged my MP3 and Ipaq into it. Probably need a headphone to headphone jack lead. Maplins or similar will do them.
