    Hi,

My tail pipe has started knocking on the rear bumper, on closer investigation I see that the BIG main box has rotted around the pipe near the joint to that rear section, thus turning and hitting the bumper.

Now my question is... where is the best place to get a replacement?

Roughtrax want in total including the O rings, vat and P&P £174.77

I rang my Toyota dealer for a laugh as Roughtrax they say that they would want £160 plus VAT and was told that including VAT, O rings that it would work out at £131.83 all in and I could have it THIS Saturday !!

What the f*cks going on? I mean Roughtrax etc should do a better deal than the main dealer??

I have just rung a local firm Autofit to get a comparison, but the main dealer price look good to me, unless you know better?

    Cheers.

You sure they're quoting a full system & not just 1 part of it?

Nah, on the website its listed as the main box before the tail section.

I think I'll go for a genuine Toyota part...

What quality was it, 3yr warranty - think the Toyota one is?

Does it come with the bolts and was it easy to fit?

it looks ok weighs a bit but i got the garage to fit it as i wasn't paying for it,it was a bit fiddly to fit tho as you have to try and line up the holes perfectly in order to get the bolts in and the garage supplied the bolts as it never had any with it

Top Tip.....Don't tighten any joints until the whole exhaust system is on the vehicle and in the right position.

As I will be doing it, how many/size/type of bolts do I need?

Get them from a exhaust shop?

I found that toyota price was the best when I wanted the rear section for my 2.4.When you get it give us a ring andwe can pop down to my local hadleigh tyres and see Graham and use his workshop, with a bit of luck he will fit it too (or one of the lads for the price of a drink).

There's a few sellers on ebay. Looks like a mid section will set you back about £90 all in.

It sounds like yours has done exactly what mine did. Been driving round for a couple weeks without the back section, no real problems apart from not being able to drive with the back windows down.

I've just replaced my back two sections (one rotted through and the other looking tired). got them off ebay (japparts or jap spares I think) whole lot including bolts vat and 24 hour delivery £157.
fitted my self on my own in about half an hour.
doddle to fit as the flanges have a spigot to align.
I soaked all the nuts and bolts with wd40 a few days before to help removal.
its a bit heavy but if you lie on your back and support main section with knees whilst doing up other end, you'll get by. Or get a mate to help.
                          Everyone thinks I'm paranoid!!
