The verdict is in, looks like Ive got 2 cylinders out, no compression and pushing straight through into the sump The garage also found some metal residue on the glowplugs ?? Have spoken to Stevo, awaiting pricing now, may have to sell her for spares, anyone got any idea how much she,s worth witout the engine? Failing that, anyone got an engine for sale?

Probably worth about £700 without the engine and £3,500 in good nick. So call it a budget of £2,800 to have the engine replaced.

Looks like you were right sancho, bottom end rebuild £1500 + vat, £2300 + vat for new engine, therefore the poor thing is officially dead, I can't afford to fix it

It will fit, but as the ad says, they come straight from Japan so that means it will have the original cylinder head fitted. A bit of a gamble realy.


OK, forget what I just said, I see you've got/had a 3.0 the 2.4 will fit your truck, but there will be a lot of other work involved to get it running.

I'm sorry to say that due to the extent of damage and the cost of repair, I am now officially an ex-surf owner, a sad day indeed .
