  • Lift complete

OK, fitted the front and rear suspension lift. Lots of work, and a fair bit of swearing (pan-hard bolt did NOT want to come out).

However, very pleased with the result. LC springs at the back giving 3" lift, and torsion bars jacked up to give nearly 2" at the front. Diff dropped 1" to relieve the strain on the CVs, and the sway bar dropped to keep it in line.

Like to say a huge thanks to Vince (Bushwacker) and Jon (Jotto) for supplying the parts.

    Still to do:
Cut down the bump stops so I have some down travel at the front (got virtually none at the moment)
Possibly get a set of spacers fabricated to re-align the upper wishbone to give even more downward travel at the front.

    Pics show:
    Before
    New and Old springs
    Everything fitted at the rear
    Everything fitted at the front

              Nah, pretty simple really:
              1. Speak to Jotto about supplying the kit
              2. Support the diff on a jack - just in case
              3. Unbolt the 2 supporting bolts, 1 either side
              4. Lower the diff just enough to slide the spacers in. The passenger side went down with no bother. The drivers side required a bit of leverage to get the spacer in, and percussive persuasion to align.
              5. Bolt it all back up again.

It's not to bad, just a little time consuming. You'll need a full socket set up to 22mm, spanners up to 19mm. Spring compressors. Jack and axle stands. I also used some ratchet straps to help in compressing the springs.

If anyone wants a full write-up, I'll prepare one.

                      OK, I'll get on it.

Yupp, seen the ones on 4Crawler, I just balk at paying $110 for a couple lumps of aluminium and a few bolts. I've got a mate who may be able to get them made up if I can get the sizes specced. Gonna do a trawl of the Aus sites because I know I've seen them on there too.

Well, we all know that BLUE is best, and as I have a BLUE Surf, and BLUE springs, I figured I needed BLUE shock boots.
