just saw this on difflock, and thought and thought some of you may find it interesting.
I guess you will be looking at 80 series .
They began in 1990 and went until about 97-98.
Some minor thing were changed like headlights and locker diffs were added as an option in 93
Some timein the mid 90s they upgraded the turbo diesel 1HD T engine with more electronics and it became a 1HD FT
Landcruisers like all Toyota have an aluminium plate on the engine bay firewall in front of the driver somewhere.
It contains all sorts of info.
The one in the pic is from a older HJ61 series turbo diesel with a 12HT engine.
H55F is the 5 speed transmission.
R is RHD G is a luxury model,M is a high roof,Z is turbo ,X is diesel Q is Australia
The KO85 is for the 9 inch LSD diff.
The A 11 is the Honshai plant where it was built.
It takes some work to understand but is easy after a while.
It sure makes the salesman think twice about telling you BS if they see you can read the plates
