I've been delving into snorkels recently..

Not having a great deal of luck. FrogsIsland4x4 seems best so far, at £222 inc VAT. That's for a Safari.

Outback Imports do Airflow ones, for £165 inc VAT and Delivery, but are uncertain if they'll fit the Surf...

Platypus trading do a TJM snorkel for 'about £200, and I'll see if I can get my hand on another adaptor to make it fit the 2.4', is what I was told..

Also Bundubasher (forum member) had one fitted by FrosIsland, and he said it needed extensive modification to the inner wing to make it fit..
          It just does, OK?

I saw that comment about "extensive modifications" and can't quite see what the big deal is. I fitted a Safari 106HF to my 2.4 and the "extensive modifications" involved drilling a hole. Even though the 106 is not designed for the 2.4 the only thing I had to do was play around a bit with the flexy pipe that goes from the snorkel to the air cleaner.

don't remember any playing around with mine.

                Drill hole on outside.
                Drill hole on inside.
Air saw the brace on the inner wing..

Drill a few more holes on the outside..

                Bolt it all together...

First hole was the worst... plain sailing after that...

As Vince seems to have missed this one - http://www.toyotasurf.asn.au/techsite/snorkel.htm

                  And this one - http://www.toyotasurf.asn.au/techsite/diffbreathers.htm

I checked out the diff breathers on mine when I was greasing up on the weekend - its a very simple mod.

And Chillett - I got the joke, if no one else!

Just rang Scorpion racing, and they're selling for £188 plus VAT, so £220.

Seems to be the going rate...

Roger, any chance of a pic of your piping in the engine bay? Cheers!
