been looking round for something to replace the surf??
disco,s are absolout rot boxes
defenders are very over rated and over priced
a GOOD rangerover to expensive
vitara's (using one now) good but small and bouncy
so after much looking decided on mk11 land cruiser as its about the same size as a defender with a better engine more comfort and probably much better off road than most as they have limited slip diffs aswell
just got to find the best one?
then next time anybody is up this way we will meet up either at langdale,weardale,robinhoods bay,or even risdale which is an awsome site

I think they cost about the same to run, as an enthusiasticaly driven 2.4 Surf.

If you get an imported one then they cost a fortune to run. If you get a UK spec one then they're comparable to a Surf (25+mpg). Apparently they have different gearing, so the Jap ones are running much higher revs when cruising.

my dads one is often more economical than my 2.4... on a run its always better although around town its sometimes worse.
