    OK.
    I've read all the threads on here (I think) and it seems that this is a pretty weak area for surfs.

    Why are those rails on the roof so short (3rd gen, auto 3ltr diesel)? What am I supposed to attach into/onto them?

    Does the thule clamp/bodge actually work?

    Has anybody managed to get a roofBar system going that wasn't a complete faff?

    TIA ++

    I bought a Paddy Hopkirk roof rack off e-bay and bought the fitting kit from Halfwits to fit the 93 4Runner, I carry two sit on top Kayaks and it has been fine. I have also fitted 4 driving light on the front bar.

    I like Orientals

        Your bars are far forward, over the front door. The rails I have are over the back of the roof with the front area ignored: a kayak (which I want to carry) would be hanging over the back while the front of the vehicle is unused ... ?? Why are the surfs made this way????

        I take it you Paddy bars are clamped on?

        TIA
