maybe we could organize something as a group , i.e ' Hilux only ' rally type thing to raise money for a chosen charity or charity's . I think we touched on this briefly last year.

Looks a bit tame to me, "no aggressive tyres needed". But I suppose it is for a good cause.
Macmillan Cancer Relief is a very good cause as anyone who has ever met or needed them will endorse.
It maybe a bit late for this year, but I,m sure with a bit more notice we could sponsor our own car in next years challenge.
Sometimes it's just important to show you care......

Thanks for the mention of the Macmillan 4x4 UK Challenge on your forum. The link has contributed to the busiest day http://www.mac4x4.co.uk has ever had. So indirectly you have already done some good for the charity, as the more exposure the event gets the easier it is to get sponsorship.
As commented the event is tame by off road challenge standards, covering 1000 miles in two days it was the only way to ensure everyone turned up at the prize giving dinner.
Joking aside the event is a navigational challenge and an extremely testing one at that, so no excuses for a stock Hi-lux not beating a tricked out expedition equipped Paris-Dakar machine. Last year a Father and Son won the event in a Standard Td5 Discovery, against competition from Army and Camel Trophy teams.
The entries are full now for 2004 but it would be great to see some more non Land Rovers competing in 2005. I promise you a brilliant event with a phenomenal camaraderie between the teams, no matter what they are driving.
To hear how we get on keep an ear on the Ken Bruce show on Radio 2 as travel reporter Lynn Bowles will be navigating for me this year.
Thanks again, and I look forward to meeting some of you in 2005.
