I far as I'm concerned this does not belong on this forum, and as the only two posts are both the same, but on different sections, nor does this 'member'. Administrators, what is your view on this?

P.S. As an active investor, over a number of years, I would not touch this with a barge pole. He/she forgot to mention that most Biotech companies are high risk investments and you could lose most, if not all, your money.

This is the wrong place to post if they're looking for people with money. If they were looking for volunteers for medical research now that would be a different matter - probably a few experimental results here as well

After yesterday when a 'bizarre' message was posted (and has now been deleted) as a reply to an entry in Jokes, this one appearing is not a surprise. I suspect that we have come onto the radar of some spammers, and there will be many more such topics in the near future.

The only way to stop it is going to be to make it harder for new members to join and/or make a first post. Of course that has the draw-back of making it harder on legitimate new members a large %age of which will probably not bother and thus leave.

The Aussie site has a rule where new members must have an email address which is not Yahoo or Hotmail. They reckon it has gone a long way to solve their problems at the expense of some inconvenience.

I am, for my sins, a site admin for another forum, and we get quite a few "bot" registrations. This has decreased since we started using the "visual confirmation" widget in vBulletin - you have to type in a series of numbers which are displayed as a picture (ie not text).
We still get a few, but they are easily spotted - the email address is an incomprehensible jumble of letters, which elicits no replies, and the website address given is apparently commercial and actually non-existent .

Any new account fitting the description was originally given 7 days to respond to an email before being deleted.
Now I just zap them immediately.

its bad enough getting the emails but to have them on here too.if its some thing like the ebay emails people get its differant cause people always use the site but it out of order posting $$$$ like the start of this thread
