  • Any tips on breaking into my own car??

Cut a long story short, I've essentially locked my keys inside the truck, on purpose.....

So I've had a chat with the chap that has been fixing it up for me and he's explained how he gets around the problem.

Thing is I want a back up plan as I've forked out a fortune for a train ticket to get to my truck and I don't want to get there and find that his technique doesn't work for me.

So any advice much appreciated, oh and if it involves a bent bit of welding rod and the top of the door then don't worry about it.......

Um I don't want to do any damage to my beloved at all so anything that involves ramming or hacking or smashing is out.....

I was thinking less hooded youth method of entry, more Tom Cruise fancy spy type entry...........watch as I make this can of coke into a key type thing.

Dunno what hoodlems do to be honest, I live in a fairly safe area but whenever I do see Chavs and Piekies approach my car I quickly lift up the back seat and get out the 3ft jack extension arm........

      Lost your insurance....

If your vehicle is stolen and the insurance find out that the keys were in the vehicle...even hidden..then kiss goodbye to your insurance!

The Surf is a bit old hat in terms of door lock technology so a electronic gismo will not be of use..eg wires under rear wheel arch shorted out opens car...not saying which one either.

Why do you not want to take the keys with you?

I have an idea or two but I am not going to post on an open forum.
          It's only a hobby!

TonyN has fixed it and jonboy22 is on his way down there to pick it up. He has Tonys mobile number as he texted him to say don't lock the keys in the truck.

                  Theres loads....

There are loads of places to hide the keys under a Surf (if you cant bear to carry then with you...apart from burying them....they could be placed in an area on top of the chassis etc...but why its not like the keys are massive is it...and you still have the insurance problem that the vehicle will not be covered if it is stolen because the keys were with the vehicle at the time of the theft.

If you are leaving a Surf foe a lengthy period and want to find it where you left it then you might consider disconnecting the starter solenoid socket connector ontop of the starter motor....that really f*c@s up pond life hoodies when the starter wont whirr

Um yeah sorry didn't want to bore you with the background details but Tony was sorting out a fly wheel problem for me and I told him to lock the keys in the car as he wont be around this weekend when I go to pick it up.

Unfortunately Tony is now in Cornwall, I don't have the spares, tomo is the only day I can pick it up.

He's told me how to get into it, or how he's done it mulitple times, but I just wanted a back up just incase I couldn't get a welding rod or I just couldnt get it to work.

Don't really want to do any damage to it either.....
