I know alot of you have posted about this one before , but Tam was well impressed by the Toyota Hilux vs Triumph Herald 1200 conv. vs VW Camper all converted to amphibias .
Tam was well happy as not only does she own a 1968 Herad conv and a Toyota , but the Herald won and started and drove a little bit .

went out with a friend on his boat on the thames, he was telling us that the boat "only" cost 7grand. which got me thinking for that sort of play budget i reckon you could do the toybota properly.
my thinking goes 1st gen surf, open top and walk through cabin design.
limit straps on axels to control droop rather than solid bars instead of shocks, so still would have some suspension, possibly attached to a winch system so you could have full travel in the mud and retract undercarridge for swimming?
bilge pump in the cab area as very few boats are truly watertight.
and a sensible motor on the back.
follow the clarkson model for added floatation, should do the trick.
now just need the 7k play money and a decent workshop.
