  • HILUX Specifications

I am a prospective new Owner of a Hilux Surf (just waiting for an imported to get new stock in).

I was reading the specs. posted on:

    http://www.skipkoo.co.uk/surf.htm

Some of it looks slightly unrealistic...for example:

    0-100km/h acceleration time 8.8 seconds?

Also, it suggests that the post 96 Hilux have Constant 4WD.

Could anyone have a look at this and work out how much is accurate or is there a better place for this kind of information.

Also, it has the Surf's turning circle as 5.7m is this correct?

    Thanks for your help

That page has been copied from an australian site, rather inaccurate as you have spotted. It appears they used one set of performance figures for a particular model and applied them accross all engine types and to both 2nd and 3rd gen models....hmmmm, also their spec lists are somewhat optimistic too.

The 3rd Gen or post 96 Hilux Surf (not the Hilux pick ups) normally operates in 2wd as per the earlier models, bur does indeed have the ability to be driven in 4wd on tarmac roads due to the fitment of a lockable centre diff, so whilst its not actually constant 4wd, you can if desired use it in a constant 4wd mode. See here for an explanation of the various 4wd modes on the 3rd Gen models.

it's not far off that but after all it is a 2 tonne aerodynamic bungalow and hopefully it won't really matter to you about the speed you'll get the pleasure driving it
      NO WORRIES!

yes, it has one of those!
tighter than the mondeo, which is embarrassing to park cos of the huge turning circle!... (probably cos of the extra wide 17" alloys)
