S'o.k. it seems to be coming from the oil filter seal, dammit! (the oil filter is on the other side to the 3.0)

                it cant be can it

                Hi Bushwhacker
this looks so similar to what happened to my old gal about 3 years ago (2.4 surf , 89 diesel) on the side of the block was a cover some kind of inspection plate . Well the gasket blew and I lost all my oil within a mile or so and almost siezed her up, my fault really cos I did'nt sort out that little oil leak earlier which developed into a major leak.I cant help much more ,I had a fella sort it out for me although he did say and I quote "what a B$$$$rd job it is" .
I dunno if that plate exists on your model ,my guess is it does
sorry for the gloomy outlook, if it is that plate my advice is dont leave it to long. Although I have to admit my surf never went so well after a partial sieze up ,sounds dippy I know but it did.

Thanks mate, but I've checked and it's the oil filter. I didn't tighten it enough, 'cos I've got a habit of over tightening things and break them so when I changed the filter, I didn't want to screw it on too much and squash the seal. As it happens I didn't tighten it enough.

                        Vince,

You're a star - my surf leaked for almost three years before I found a split cam cover gasket.

I used to find bigger puddles than that every morning.

And who the hell has a garage floor that clean anyway?

hehehe!! I only painted it last week! I wanted to paint it white, to reflect the light a bit more, but I got the grey floorpaint for nowt.

I had the same problem last week. Thanks to Rick (Vagrant) I tightened the oil filter up and no more drips. At least my diff and gearbox aren't going rusty!!
                            It's only a hobby!
