tick over

hi. i have a 3.0.ltr td surf can anyone tell me what the tickover should be. its ticking over between 500 & 600 revs and vibrates through the car but if i alter it to 750 ish it seems to surg into gear when i select drive or any other gears. can anyone help please

Mine ticks over at about 600 ish, and yes there is slight vibration on the gear selector
