Like all insurance what is best for one is not necessarily best for another. I found NFU (National Farmers Union) best for me. Watch out for insurers who insist that the van is alarmed at all times - impossible in practice at the alarm drains the battery and if kept on a storage site you would not know that it was flat and thus uninsured.

I'm with NFU one of the few that will cover Hobby caravans, they did insist on an alarm and wheelclamp but they were two of the 1st things I fitted anyway.

Thats it every body stay off the A34 A43 and the M1 on Friday and Sunday Pops will be out snaking his way up from Soton to Naesby traffic calming at 40mph....

Dont forget martin someone of your age should have the driving gloves flap cap and cravat when travelling with the tin snail on your back.....

And dont forget lane 1 is not the trucks only lane.

Like Kieth says, you have to shop around. I pay £380 for a 1yr old twin axle with caravan guard who insist on alarm and tracker. both are powered by seperate lithium batteries which are charged by a solar panel. Take no notice of the 40mph jibes, I cruise at 60 towing 1600kg

Yes but POP's Never goes over 40mph. So why would he increase his speed when he has a tin box on the back???

That's what I though, but apparently not according to Swinton insurance......

Quote...If you are a caravan enthusiast, it is important to take out an insurance policy to cover both the caravan itself, as well as its fixtures and fittings and your personal effects.

If you are involved in an accident, your car insurance policy will not cover any damage to or caused by your caravan. So it is imperative that you equip yourself with specialist cover before setting off.

Another reason it is important to take out caravan insurance is their susceptibility to theft and vandalism - over 5,000 caravans are stolen each year.

Caravan insurance can vary significantly between providers, so make sure you check what cover is included in your policy carefully otherwise it may not end up being as cheap as it could be.
