hi all when changeing battery on 3ltr surf twin batteries do you have to dissconect both batteries its thedrivers side as you look in the bonnet many thanks

Best to disconnect both negative terminals first. Then positive for battery being replaced. It's ok to leave the good battery positive connected. Replace the battery and connect positive then both negatives. When working on electrical system always disconnect both positive terminals. No need to disconnect the positive.

Are you positive or is this another double negative?

IDEALLY... it's best to replace both batteries at the same time...
the "good" one that's not replaced will not be as efficient as a new one and can reduce it's lifespan.
