Cloaking device!
The switch is illuminated 'cos you won't know when it's on otherwise. You can see it, but everybody else can't!

that switch don't operate the side light tho only the rear fog

Have you tried the rear fog with the light switch on they usually are wired not to operate unless your lights are on.
