3.0 td 1KZ TE bad running
Hi, folks I'm new to this surfin' lark, but had surfs for 5yrs or so. (Tired of changing UJs ont' old Landrover!) The first a 2.4lt couldn't pull the skin off a rice pud, got nicked
so I got a '94 3.0TD(much better!). However, some b$$$$rs: : tried to nick this one; smashed the steering lock etc.; took a cold chisel to the immobiliser (?the lump on the end of the Denso), and hid it in a field. I rescued the vehicle, got new parts fitted and now it is difficult to start and only runs up to 500rpm whatever the throttle position. After 0.5min or so the engine will pick up speed and run normally once the turbo kicks in, if a bit sluggish at lower revs. I've changed the fuel filter,drained the tank, blown lines etc., so I don't think it's fuel supply . Has anyone any ideas?
