Would either of these coolers be adequate for ATF cooling?

BTW Vince, the above site might hold something of interest for you,
judging by that pic you posted the other week.

    Cheers.

Either of those will do. I used to run my 2.4 auto on just a 13 row cooler and a manual rad.

Cheers Jon. Out of curiosity, what do you use now?

          from me.

I have a 3.0l now that is running the stock rad with cooler in it, but when I find the time I will be putting a manual rad and the oilcooler in as I think it helps to keep the temp down and the water flowing better out the bottom of the rad.

The infamous inbuilt cooler across outlet bit. As a side note, when I had
the rad recored, I asked about that. He said that it shouldn't restrict the flow.
It sounds like the amount that shifts through the block is well within the limits
of that bottom opening/cooler combination. Thanks for the advice Jon.

Talking of oil cooling, there's aa oil filter cooler that you can get for Minis. It looks like a finned cylinder that you slip over the oil filter and it's supposed to act like a heatsink.
                I'll have a search.

Edit: By golly, Vince, that's twice in one week. One mistake and
now outlinked. Your reputation will be in ruins.

Tony said something that made me think a bit ago. Think of the restriction from the stat. Even when open its probably more than the restriction in the rad. I do have an oil cooler for the ATF which I'm gonna run in series with the main rad cooler... when I get round to it and Vicki stops breaking her car!

That's a good point. Never thought about the 'stat. The big disc in the
waterflow would restrict the flow a tad.

How are the car repairs going, BTW. Front wheel and suspension,
                      wasn't it?

All done now. New set of aftermarket wheels on as probably as cheap as a new VW wheel plus 4 tyres.

Got the wheel / tyre package from Rochford Tyres within 3 days after being jerked about by Halfrauds for 10 days!
