cheers chaps! been reading up on the new sony alpha i think its going to have to be one of them... being launched next week, spooky!
From what I've read it's a 7D with more pixels. If it is then it should be a good camera. It looks like they're gradually going to re-brand and re-release all the lenses and accessories too.
Just a bit of technical info I got from Jessops Sony have bought the 'mount' license from KM so all the Dynax lenses will fit the new Sony body (I wait in anticipation) I have apo lenses and didn't get a Minolta D7 when I had the chanceHave you tried Amazon ?
cheers all, been trawling the sites and mags, this new sony alpha is the muts...and i have just scrounged a couple of minolta a mount lenses...might have to wait a while for the price to level out, but then again, might be some special offers flying about when its launched this weekend... time to put the credit card in the freezer again...
Sold my Olympus E20 on fleabay a few months ago to buy a new gun and took a fancy for the wee Sony Cybershot H5, OK not slr but totaly overidable and easy to use in point & shoot mega Carl Zeis zoom lens with the anti shake bumf built in OK no hot shoe flash but the flip up is the dogs and goot for 30 mtrs all for less than £300...Got my hands on loan one last week and it EATS batteries, the two suplied super aa's dont last 30 mins and forget standard aa's = fantastic camera but hopeless for anything other than the odd snapshot due to power failure!
Been reading up on the new Alpha and it looks GOOD but knowing Sony something wont work so I rekon I will wait for some user reviews and read between the lines before buying
Got the lastest edition of what used to be the Minolta club magazine today and there is an initial review of the A100 written by a guy called David Kilpatrick who has been using Minoltas since God was a lad. He's reserving full judgement til he's really used it but his initial reaction seems to be good, particularly with regard to image quality relative to the 7/5D. Apparently it's based on the 5D body style so it lacks some of the "professional" features but has some particularly tricky image processing built in.
He has ordered his from a company called Calumet ( www.calumetphoto.co.uk ) who are listing body only at £509.79 + vat
he will be most upset to hear that buyacamera are doing them for 549 inc vat then... at the moment there are loads at 599 inc and a few at 579... wonder when they will start discounting them.... (i am very tight, i only lived in yorkshire for a couple of years so it may wear off..)
