Oil Dripping from the front Diff

As any one had to service there front diff ? I have oil comming from it , Have checked the bottom of the engine and it is clean , so it is definatley comming from the diff. It looks like it is comming from the front cover, has any one taken it off ? is there any thing spring loaded behind the cover, can you do it your self or do you need to have it done by a mechanic ? Is there a gasket inbetween ? any help will be great

Sorry about that !! It is a Toyota Surf 2.4 Turbo Diesel. I think that it is a 1992 Model

If it is diff oil it will not be black like engine and it has a different smell too.

Could just be a loose filler cap or drain cap, blocked breather or worst case a worn halfshaft seal. Sometimes they leak if overfilled or if the breather cap (small valve on top of the diff) becomes blocked. Take off the breather and make sure its clear. Undo the filler cap, check the level while you're at it and re-tighten. Re-tighten the drain plug too.

get it sorted!! I had a diff on my merc seize and BOY are they expensive. I had seen oil dripping for a few months, but ya know what its like...
plus, when it went BANG (and it DID go BANG) the car was totally imoveable!
prob just the seal on the filler.

If you have manual locking hubs I would make sure that they are unlocked as then you should (I believe) have no movement in the front diff at all and it should come to no harm untill you can get it fixed.
