OK, you may scoff at those handiracks, but I have one and its brilliant.

if you go on holiday and have a hire car and some surfboards or a canoe... it fits in your suitcase because its so small and then fits on the car in a matter of minutes.
I dont like driving round with roof bars on all the time because it looks rubbish and costs too much fuel for nothing.
I keep my rack in the car and whenver i take my canoe somewhere, its on and sorted in minutes. it doesnt damage the canoe, or the roof and one time when i hit the height limiter by 2 inches.. i just deflated the rack to go under... job sorted.

i use roof bars as well, but the handirack is used most of all.
just biggin up a great invention. its much tougher than you might think
