I've noticed that since using semi-synthetic oil the gauge reads lower than it used to.

Another quirk is that 15-40 seems to give a slightly higher reading
than 10-40.

Ok im a bit worried now as when i drove back last night i saw the oil pressure was about 1/4 to 1/3 on the guage and dropped to low when idleing when hot but when i started first thing this morning it was on 1/3 on idle. I think it needs a good service as the oil looks quite old. The oil level is good half way between the two markers and there are no leaks underneath.

Any idea or am i just worring over nothing

Thats because the oil is slippier vince. It's coated all your metal parts in lovely friction reducing stuff.
