  • im now a true surfer

well i finally got one this evening. Ive been hunting around for one for a few months now and i have seen plenty of bad ones (mainly 2.4's) but i bought my first surf tonight its a black L reg 93 3.0ltr ssrx it says 108000 on clock i guess its in km so about 60k miles i paid £2650. runs very nice a few problems with rear window sticking and rear door window passenger side not working. I think it needs a service and probably a cam belt as well how much should i be looking at for a full service and cam belt?.
Also what should the oil pressure guage be reading on idle and running.

will get some piccys up as soon as ive given it a good clean up and polish.

Thanks for everyones help and advice so far.
To assume makes an ass out of u and me.

Nice one, sounds like a bargain.

Somewhere on here you'll find a picture, but oil pressure is about a third on idle and about two thirds when you're chugging along. I think.

From Slough, your best bet for a service is undoubtedly Mr TonyN - www.4x4toys.co.uk - in Basingstoke. He'll do a full service for 250 AND actually know what he's talking about. Remarkable. I believe he's still on honeymoon for a week or so.

Hi mate and welcome to the site.
Your window probs are probably related ....passenger side motor is often swapped for rear. Try Search for rear window. Oil pressure gauge is pretty useless the usual operating range is from a third to half on the dial. Tony the Tinkerer is your man for a service

he is busy tinkering with something else at the moment as he is on honeymoon.

                  thanks for the welcome

Ok im a bit worried now as when i drove back last night i saw the oil pressure was about 1/4 to 1/3 on the guage and dropped to low when idleing when hot but when i started first thing this morning it was on 1/3 on idle. I think it needs a good service as the oil looks quite old. The oil level is good half way between the two markers and there are no leaks underneath.

Any idea or am i just worring over nothing

Hi Ginger mine was serviced the end of february and my oil presseure is the same unless i floor it and it goes up to about half way. When was yours last serviced? if it was recently done i would of thought it was normal the same as mine.

Oil gauge always shows low on the scale. Don't think I've ever
seen mine reach halfway. Between around first marker and
                      halfway is normal.

Just a matter of being sufficiently bored to go to the Aussie site, download the entire owners manual and cut and paste the oil guage part....

I've noticed that since using semi-synthetic oil the gauge reads lower than it used to.
