wheel arches??

just a quick question I run 33x12.5x15 on the surf so do I need to have arches on at the moment I have extra wide arches and when you of road they are the first things that get scratched and it is only a matter of time before they get battered? so I would like to take them of

To be legal the arch should cover the top of the tread (not the tyre). That is, if you take a line vertically down from the middle of the arch it should be level with or outside the tread of the tyre. Any thing else is up to you and how much mud you want to remove from the roof
