IMO it's true what he says at the end about not needing new laws, just needing more information/enforcement on current ones.

As a newbie to offroad driving i've found it hard to understand where we can and can't drive and the difference between rupps, and boats, and as for boats with tro's. Yes there will still be a minority who will go wherever they fancy whether they're allowed or not. But I have found myself running lanes which have been re-classified or planning a route then finding out a ten mile section has been give a TRO, not to deliberately or blatently disregard the law but because i've read thing's about NERC one place, planned stuff according to what i've read, then read something totally different a week later.

In fact a lot of my confusion was brought about by an article in a national magazine which implied that NERC only affected National Parks, and therefore that, outside of national parks we could continue to use all the lanes that were available to us in the past.

Which seemingly isn't the case, thank's to a few other's on here i think i now understand most of the effects of NERC and where we now can and can't drive.

Speaking of Stanage, it looks like there are quite a few nice routes around there and also plenty of campsites and pubs. Anyone fancy a 'northern surfers' meetup? Bit of offroading then beer and a bonfire?

I'm not sure my surf is up to the steps on the edge itself as I'm unlifted and have a towbar that limits the departure angle, but would be happy to bring the trailbike as well to 'scout' on the trickier stuff.
