  • Rear fog light

Was driving behind another surf today, and noticed his rear fog light tucked right underneath only a few inches in front (should that be behind) of the o/s mud flap.

Anyone know if it would pass MOT like that? It'd certainly make it harder to take off, that's a potential saving of £7 on every pay and play as i haven't done one without removing the rear fog light yet. I was beginning to think that was just part of the fun.

Get yourself a couple of cheapie foglights I payed £2.99 each for mine, and an electric drill with a 10mmm or 12mm drill bit, an electric jigsaw with a steel cutting blade, maybe a file as well to tidy up the hole, and fit your foglights like mine.

Got a tow bar, hasn't helped much.

That looks pretty swish bushwacker, was considering cutting one into the bumper, but when i saw how someone else had done it today it looked so much easier. and i spose it happens to fail an MOT for it, it's only one bolt to take out and move back to where it is now anyway.

Bit of a debatable point, methinks. When I checked the
regs regarding the rear fogs, they have to be something
along the lines of within eighteen inches of the rear light
cluster. However, it never says whether it has to be a
physical eighteen inch, or a visible eighteen inch. For
example, if you put it sixteen inches lower than the
bottom edge of the cluster, but then recessed it back
underneath the bodywork ten inches, does that class
as within eighteen inch, as that is its visible distance from
the cluster? If not, I'm buggered.
