Assuming you need to tow another car ,no T&T,ins or driver .What is the best way to do it ?
The only legal way I know for sure would be a braked trailer.
I,ve been looking at various options A-frame, dolly ,Trailer etc.
I,m limited for space & need to find a cheap way to transport my project.
I understand plenty of people use methods other than the trailer but with my luck plod would throw the book at me

      a frame is ok...
we got taken to court for towing on an a frame with my mate sitting in the towed car (he was 16 at the time) we explained that it counted as a trailer so the driver was ok, but they tried doing my mate for being in control of the vehicle as if he had held the steering then would be in control... but in the end we got away with it.

i've towed quite a lot on an aframe, they're ok as long as you chain it on right!... sometimes it can be tricky depending on the steering/suspension set up of the motor you're towing.

as long as you have a trailer board all lights etc, then you'd be ok

it's a towing hitch with a fram in the shape of a big A some straps and chains.

basically it attatches under the front of the towed car either side around the wishbones and the other end hooks on your towing ball

then when you drive the car follows you steering and all... if you attatch it right first time!... otherwise it just gets dragged around corners!

they fold down too, so they're just like 2 4ft poles when stored

As long as the front wheels ae off the ground it is classed as a trailer and not a car. Must have a trailer board on though and shouldn't have a passenger in it as it is illegal to carry a passenger in a trailer.

I think that on a standard A frame you are walking a fairly fine line as the front wheels are on the ground. On some of the A frames that fit on the towing ball, the front wheels are on a dolly and are therefore technically off the ground (the steering is totally disabled).

                    Cheers

Plus I also think anything over a certain weight being towed on a A frame needs to be braked.

I reckon anything over 750kg needs to be braked....which includes almost every car. A towing dolly would need brakes if this is right.
The cheapest legal option seems to be wait for the right trailer but as I need to store it seperate to the car ,this also takes up the most room

This has got me thinking about some sort of mechanical connection that applies the towed cars brakes. And a vacuum pipe to operate the servo ....................this time next year we could be millionairs Rodney.

                          It's only a hobby!
